Justin Butler, a star football player and student athlete apparently died after getting tangled in a bowflex machine in what seems to be a tragic Bowflex exercise accident – although it is still not clear. They’re saying now that they don’t think the accident is because of the Bowflex, although I don’t see how they can claim that so soon when it’s entirely unclear what happened.

Although the Bowflex has had a history of recalls in the past, this is the first time I’ve heard of an incident this extreme. I wouldn’t say this is a reason not to use the Bowflex – although in general I’ve always encouraged people to stick with free weights.
